Hi everyone,
Let’s see what our favorite internet people are up to, shall we?
This week I wrote…
All about the Hilaria Baldwin snark communities
I’ve long been fascinated by communities that form on the internet with the intention of gossiping about and snarking on a single public figure, which often spiral into fan fiction and conspiracy theories. So, I wrote about one, specifically the anti-Hilaria Baldwin subreddit.
As I wrote:
“For these snarkers, it’s not enough to suggest that Hilaria, born Hillary Hayward-Thomas, was faking a Spanish accent and ‘hiding’ the fact that she was born and raised in Boston. These communities, like the r/HilariaBaldwin subreddit, and people who run parody accounts posing as her on Twitter and Instagram, churn out theories that Hilaria is lying about giving birth to some of her children, is a self-centered woman aiming to make other women feel bad about themselves, and is actively harming her kids by sharing a lot about their lives online.”
I also got a LOT of…interesting comments about this one on my Instagram and on the story itself, which I somewhat expected but is always a wild ride!
This week on the internet…
This Instagram feature is annoying, but you can turn it off
This week, my Instagram feed on both my work and personal accounts became chock full of Reels “suggestions,” to the point where I could barely see anything else.
It really annoyed me, because I just want to see the posts from people I follow! After I posted about it on Instagram, some kind followers taught me how to get rid of it. I posted a step by step here in Reel form if you want to turn them off as well (but it only allows you to do so for 30 days).
I got SO many messages and comments from people who told me they hate this feature too. Instagram, wyd?
I want to go on this “influencer only private jet” but they won’t let me :(
A week or so ago, I got this email.
I get a fair amount of press releases, but I rarely get excited about them. This one though? SIGN ME UP.
I’m sorry, but who WOULDN’T want to go on an influencer only plane to Coachella? Why does this even exist? Who is going to sign up? How is this company financing this business venture? Is an airline exclusively for influencers a viable business model? (Hmm…)
I envisioned being a fly on the wall of this journey and getting answers to all these burning questions, but sadly when I asked to go on the plane for a story…
😔😩😔😩😔😩😔😩😔😩😔😩😔
I am sorry I could not deliver this experience for you all. In a cruel twist, I am now HAUNTED by Willa Air ads on my social media accounts, telling me if I was an influencer, I could sign up to go.
I’m so sad. Maybe next time, Willa Air.
Influencer baby name predictor victory!
Congrats to @EmDoodlesAndStuff, the TikToker who predicts influencer baby names.
She had guessed three boy names and three girl names for the unborn baby of mom blogger Grace Patton aka Camp Patton, and she got it right!
Em had predicted Otto, Felix, or Vincent for a boy, and the baby is named Felix.
BTW, this is Camp Patton’s ninth child and she has blogged about many of her births.
One more thing…
This just made me laugh.
Have a great week,
Stephanie
